Hugely famous during the 1940’s – 50’s, Josef Locke was a hugely popular tenor singer throughout Ireland and the UK.

5 years after his passing in 1982, local music lover, Micheal Sheerin successfully raised enough interest and funding to enable a fantastic memorial to be erected on the banks of the River Foyle to Josef’s memory.

ADMS Architects were honoured to be involved in securing planning permission for the bronze memorial, sculpted by the artist Maurice Harron. The sculpture was unveiled by the later John Hume, Phil Coulter and Josef’s wife, Carmel.
